Merry Knitsmas!!

That's right.. Knitsmas.
SO, I'm off to Ireland in just a few hours, so I have a bit more frantic packing today. I sent off a crapload of knit gifts, most of them for occasions that preceded Christmas, and now they will even be late for that, but sure, the effort or whatever. I got (and ate some of) my lovely gift from Stitchdrop and her 'partner', and I am so re-using the pretty bag it came in. So, I will post a photo (or two) of the secret knit stuff as soon as they have been handed over to their intended recipient, but I think most of you have seen them/it already.
In other knews, I've also been selfishly working on something for myself, and the pattern is here http://www.berroco.com/194/194_samantha.html ,
(by the way berroco.com is a pretty good site for free patterns), but of course I'm using some different weird yarn that I got for next to nothing in the bargain bin, so you can't really see much of the detail on the panel. Will I put up a photo of it??? Maybe.. It's still on me needles though.
Enough bullcrappo about knitting, I hope every body has a really WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS! and a FANTASTIC NEW YEAR!!!! HOORAY!

But, is it feckin art, lads?

So, I finally put up some photos of the Notorious ART scarf. I know it doesn't look entirely functional, but quiet thee, naysayers! When it's worn all the open bits roll up with the knitted bits to provide full arty neck coverage. I knit a crap load of squares (the black and white are all wool, the Red is a mohair/wool/jo mama blend), then crocheted them together to form a knit web lattice thing. On each of the ends, I attached (by crocheting) a crocheted round. The assembly on this thing was a mother, but I think Mondrian would give it a nod, and more importantly, I hope it's recipient will like it... Anyway - Photos!

The whole arty scarf. Photo taken by webcam.... which accounts for the professional quality.

Detail of the body of the scarf... Stockinette stitch rectangles, connected together by crocheted 'ropes'.

Detail of the ends of the scarf... 5 crocheted rounds.

RIP Dimebag

The world lost a helluva knitter today. Well, I doubt he was a knitter, but I will still miss Dimebag Darrell.

Water sellers in Djeema Al-Fna

A tiny village in the High Atlas mountains.

Kotoubia Mosque, view from the terrace at our hotel.

Snake charmers in La Place Djeema Al-Fna, in Marrakech... It cost us approx $10 to take this photo.

Tagazhout, apparently one of the best beaches for surfing in Morocco. Check out the camel.

The African Job

So, we made it back from Morocco in one piece, but I brought back a massive flu-like thing that is not very exciting, and has had me in bed since I got back. I also didn't finish that scarf before I left, and I did hang my head in shame, but that was in the past. I still will put up a photo of it, and hopefully at some point post it to the person for which it was intended, even though their birthday was last month.... I have started on another project as well, but that is a secret. As far as the yarn deal, it didn't really go down, because I could find any yarn. That was kinda crappy. but, so it's back to the grindstone. I'll put up some photos of Marrakech.
