I ain't never lie

Below are those photos I promised earlier... I've yet to get my exciting yarn from Italy, so I'm not holding out on you. The jumper has proved too itchy to wear, so I might line it, and then it will be the warmest thing in exixtence. The manly sweater is taking ages because I have been devoting less time to the needles, and because the even though the merino wool is lovely and soft, it's a bit slippery and doesn't want to stay where I put it. Anybody else got anything exciting going on? Any more cheesecakes? Anything?

Yeah... there it is, the blarney Spinal sweater.

The ribbing of the Manly Sweater..

Close-up of the tubular cast-on... oooh.

Man, oh, man!

The Blarney Sweater has been finished and assembled for a few days now... It looks okay, and it's very warm, but it is very itchy... Photos to come.

So, I did receive my lovely Jaeger 100% Merino Wool in a fetching olive green for the jumper I'm going to make for 'Scareport.' I'm roughly using the pattern for the 'manly sweater' from Debbie Steelers Stitch n' Bitch, with adjustments made for the finer wool. After reading the praises of the tubular cast-on (mostly here) , and I'm up for anything that is called 'tubular', I decided to try it myself using these instructions. the result does look pretty cool, I'll post a photo at some point, but it is a lot of work...
Aside from that, I'm still waiting to receive my fun angora tweed yarn that I ordered on eBay for a sweater for me, I'll take a photo of that when it gets here, just because I think it's sooo cool.

The Last Chapter

I finished the knitting for my Blarney sweater a few days ago, and started putting it together and it looks like it might be okay, but my seaming skills are not fantastic... I'll put up photos when it is fully assembled, then I'll probably take it apart and re-assemble it. So, the story of the sweater is coming to a sort-of end.

But what is an ending, except a new beginning really? With that in mind, and because this is the first month since about May 2004 where I have actually been in the black (with my credit cards, at least, we won't think about the student loans...), I purchased some new stuff from e-Bay for a sweater pour moi, and one pour Mark. Hooray! I also discovered that if you buy yarn from France/Italy/Spain/ Germany.... well, Europe, that it is cheaper (a lot of times) than buying from the UK, even with shipping. There you have it.

(L-R) The front, back, and beginning of first sleve. Needs to be blocked and untangled..

Cominatcha!

Here are some more photos to illustrate 'The Continuing Story of the Blarney Spinal Sweater.' I finished the front of the sweater yesterday during the time I had allocated to cleaning the bathroom. As you may infer, the bathroom still needs to be cleaned. But, my sweater is edging ever-closer to completion. So, how you like me now?
If you are very bored, and want to have a good knitting-related laugh, check out the Museum of Kitschy Stitches . I've linked this to Vol I, but if you scroll down, you can find Vol II, III, and IV, and they are all hilarious.

A boring update to fill space

I finished the back of the Blarney sweater, and am about halfway through the front. I saw Lady Stitchdrop this evening, and she showed me her exciting baby sweater pattern, that we couldn't figure out. So if anyone knows anything about rib2tog, please let us know. Aside from that, there isn't much.
